Experienced all-rounder Marcus Stoinis has been an integral part of Australia’s limited-overs team for a while now. The explosive right-hand batter and handy right-arm quick has now played 45 ODIs and 28 T20Is for his country.

One of the skills that have played a part in Stoinis’ quick ascent into becoming a crucial member of the Australian lower middle-order is his power-hitting ability. A big-built muscler of the cricket ball, the batter has smashed 96 fours, 37 sixes in his ODIs and 34 fours, 13 sixes in T20Is.

It is the frequency of six-hitting that must be noted with Stoinis, who has hit nearly a six per game (50 from 73 games) in the white-ball internationals.

A fine example of the player’s impressive nack of hitting the ball out of the park came during the 2017-18 Australian home summer. Playing against England in an ODI at the new Optus Stadium in Perth, Stoinis hit probably the biggest six witnessed in competitive cricket.

The incredible stroke is from the ninth over of the Australian innings where, facing off-spinner Moeen Ali, Stoinis got one into his radar after dancing down the track and charted the long-on region. The shot didn’t just had the alleviation but also the distance, as it reached well into the upper tier stand at the gigantic stadium.

The commentators and the fans were left amazed by how well Marcus Stoinis had timed the ball for that one. The six was recorded to have gone as far as 119 metres from where the batter was standing.

Cricket.com.au had shared the short clip of the six that immediately grabbed the attention over social media and resulted in widespread applause for Stoinis.

That six wasn’t the only one that Stoinis hit on the day, as he blazed the willow for three more during his valiant knock of 87 off 99 balls, which was the highest individual Australian score on the day.

Despite Stoinis’ fantastic effort with the bat, the home team suffered a painful loss by 12 runs after failing to chase down England’s 259.
