SA vs SL: Migael Pretorius receives maiden call up to Test squad

Migael Pretorius, the South African pacer has received his maiden call up to the Proteas squad for their upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka which commences from December 26.

Pretorius who plays for VKB Knights, is currently the third-highest wicket-taker with 20 wickets in the four day domestic cup and has best bowling figures of 7 for 102 runs against Hollywoodbets Dolphins.

“We’re pleased to include Migael in the Proteas Test squad for the Sri Lanka series. We’re big on rewarding consistently good work and the player has done a lot to make a case for himself,” CSA Convenor of Selectors, Victor Mpitsang said.

“We hope that this experience will be a great learning one for him and that this can serve as encouragement for players across the country, showing them that their chances may not be as far off as they think,” Mpitsang added.

The Proteas squad will gather in Pretoria on December 19, where they will begin their preparation for the Test series. CSA further stated that Kagiso Rabada and Dwaine Pretorius have not yet been medically cleared to participate in the tour.

The Proteas’ last Test series came against England in 2019-20, where they were beaten convincingly by the visitors in spite of winning the first test. South Africa lost the series 3-1 and were outplayed in every department in the last three Tests. Quinton De Kock who has taken over the captaincy duties from Faf du Plessis in all formats will be looking forward to a good performance from the hosts.
