Steve Smith, Australian middle order batsman and currently number 1 in the Test rankings, has rated Pakistan’s left arm quick, Mohammad Amir as the toughest bowler he has come across in International Cricket.
During a question answer session on Instagram, Smith was asked name the fast bowler he finds difficult to face. The Australia batsman selected Amir while heaping praise on the latter’s bowling skills. He wrote, “Mohammad Amir, I think is the most skillful bowler I have faced.”
The former Australian captain also heaped praise on the new Limited Overs captain of Pakistan, Babar Azam, when he was asked to share his thoughts about the talismanic Pakistani middle order batsman. Smith wrote, “(Babar Azam is a) very good player. Has a lot of time when he’s batting.”
Two years ago, in an interaction on national TV with Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, Indian captain Virat Kohli also admitted that one has to bring out their best when facing the 28 year old left arm quick. Kohli said, “In the recent times, Mohammad Amir of Pakistan (is the hardest to face). He is in the top two or three bowlers in the world and one of the toughest bowlers I have played in my career. You have to be on your ‘A’ Game when you’re facing him or he will strike. Outstanding, a very good bowler.”
Last month, in an Instagram session, Amir picked Smith as the toughest batsmen, from the current era, to dismiss. He said“In the past, I would say it was Jonathan Trott. From the current batsmen, it is Steven Smith due to his solid technique.”
