Virat Kohli has the most runs in T20I cricket to his name. He has 3195 runs in 90 matches, at an average of 52.95.

The first-ever game of T20I cricket was played between hosts New Zealand and Australia in Auckland on February 5, 2005. Facing their neighbours, the visitors came out triumphant by a margin of 44 runs. Two years later, the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup was played in South Africa, a tournament that had a game-transforming effect because of India’s title victory.

Since then, T20 cricket has gained global prominence among fans and experts, with the proliferation of various domestic leagues, including the immensely popular Indian Premier League (IPL).

Virat Kohli has been the most prolific run-scorer in T20I cricket history.

India captain Virat Kohli has been the top run-getter in T20I cricket for a while now. Kohli has made 3,159 runs in the format with a strike-rate of 139.04 while maintaining an average of 52.65. Kohli hasn’t yet reached the 100-run mark in his highly successful career but has scored 28 half-centuries.

Martin Guptill

New Zealand opener Guptill is only second to Kohli on the list of most runs in T20I cricket, having made 2,939 runs from 102 games at a strike-rate of 136.82 and an average of 32.29. Guptill, an explosive right-hand batsman at the top of the order, has two hundreds and 17 fifties.

Rohit Sharma

Opening batsman Rohit is the third-highest run-getter in T20I cricket. Rohit has now made 2,864 runs from his 111 games in the format for India while carrying a strike-rate of 138.96 and an average of 32.54. An exceptional timer of the cricket ball, Rohit has made 4 centuries and 22 fifties in T20Is.

Aaron Finch

Finch, the contemporary Australian limited-overs captain, has also been a stand-out performer with the bat in T20I cricket.
