The Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2021 kicked off earlier this week on Monday (July 19) amid a great sense of excitement and anticipation among fans.

Unfortunately, though, the opening game of the tournament between Lyca Kovai Kings and Salem Spartans was ruined by bad weather and ended in a no result.

The fixture scheduled for the following day where Chepauk Super Gillies took the field against IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans suffered the same fate.

Since then, however, the weather in Chennai has been kinder to the TNPL 2021 and we have had three back to back outright results. Let us have a look at the wicket-taking charts from the matches played in the TNPL 2021 so far.

Most Wickets in TNPL 2019

G Periyaswamy was the top wicket-taker of the previous edition of the TNPL played in 2019. The right-arm quick bagged 21 wickets from his 9 outings in the competition for Chepauk Super Gillies at an average of 10.47 and economy rate of 6.47.

Most wickets in TNPL 2018

For the 2018 season of the TNPL, it was Siechem Madurai Panthers fast bowler Abhishek Tanwar who ended at the top of the wickets ladder. Tanwar made 15 scalps during the tournament from his 10 innings, while going for 9.06 runs per over.

Most wickets in TNPL 2017

R Sai Kishore of Chennai Super Gillies was the highest wicket-taker of TNPL 2017. Kishore, the left-arm orthodox spinner, ended the season with 17 wickets to his name from 10 matches at an economy rate of only 5.70.

Most wickets in TNPL 2016

The inaugural edition of the TNPL saw Chepauk Super Gillies right-arm quick Antony Dhas finish on the top of the wicket-taking charts. Dhas picked up 14 wickets from his 9 games in the tournament while averaging 12.42 per piece and maintaining an economy rate of 7.25.
