T Natarajan released from Tamil Nadu squad on BCCI request

The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) has released T Natarajan from the Vijay Hazare Trophy squad upon a request from the BCCI who wanted the pacer to be fresh for the upcoming limited-overs series against England.

Considering the bubble fatigue that most of the Indian cricketers endured in the last six months, from UAE to Australia, and now back in the Chennai bubble for the series against England, the BCCI are doing its best to bring that balance.

A part of that plan, they requested the TNCA to release T Natarajan so that he can be in the best frame of mind ahead of the limited-overs leg against England which will kick-start just after the Test series.

“That is what we have heard. We have not got a request in writing but we understand that the team management wants him to get ready by practicing at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore.

“The secretary is looking into it. The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) will take the right decision,” Kasi Viswanathan of TNCA told Cricbuzz.

TNCA secretary S Ramasamy later suggested that they are ready to make any changes for the national obligation while adding that they already had one replacement ready for Natarajan.

“The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the team management want him fresh. It is in the national interest and so we are ready to oblige. We had named a replacement should he be not available and that issue has been sorted out. We have released Natarajan.”

Natarajan had a dream debut tour to remember

Initially drafted into the Indian squad as a net bowler, Natarajan made his debut in all three formats for India during the Australian tour. He impressed in the limited-overs leg and especially in the T20Is when India rested both Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami to keep them fresh for the Test series.
