Aus vs Ind: Nathon Lyon added to Australia’s T20I squad at the expense of Cameron Green

Nathon Lyon, veteran off-spinner for the Australian team has been added to Australia’s T20 squad for the remaining two T20Is against India. He comes into the squad at the expense of Cameron Green who has been released from the squad. Green will join the Australia A team which will play a warm-up match against India-A, starting from Sunday.

Nathon Lyon has not played a single T20I in the past two years, having last played against Pakistan in October 2018. The off-spinner is also expected to play a vital role in Australia’s test series against India later in the month.

Australia are already chasing a deficit in the three match T20 series, going 1-0 down after losing the first T20I after brilliant performances from Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravindra Jadeja. Even before the match started, Ashton Agar was ruled out due to a calf injury and Mitchell Swepson was called in as his replacement.

The injury list for the Australian team keeps getting bigger, with Aaron Finch sustaining an injury in his hip area in the opening T20I against India. It will be interesting to see who takes over the captaincy if Finch is declared unfit for the remaining T20Is.

David Warner had already been ruled out of the T20 series after a groin injury which he suffered against India in the second ODI. Marcus Stoinis, Mitchell Starc are among other names added to the injury list. Pat Cummins has been rested for the T20I series after playing a full IPL season in UAE.

Australia will take the field at Sydney Cricket Ground on Sunday knowing that a loss would seal the series for the Indian team. For the men in blue, Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out of the T20I series after suffering from a concussion in the first T20I. Shardul Thakur was named his replacement.
