Oman’s opener Jatinder Singh has showcased some stunning batting in the T20 World Cup 2021 group stages. He loves working in the 4th and 5th gear, having a go at the bowlers whenever there is a loosener or a half-chance, and in Oman’s second game of the group stages against Bangladesh, this opener supremo once again delivered some top shots.

Besides a front-foot pull against Mustafiur and some stunning drives, his six over extra covers against Shakib Al Hasan was easily one of the moments of the game. Shakib, without a doubt, is one of the finest cricketers of the current times and is a crafty operator when he has the ball in hand.

However, the stature of his opponent never seems to have fazed the 32-year-old opener. He made a little room for himself when Shakib pitched it up to him in the 7th over of the game. He loved the flight on the ball, and played a delightful inside-out shot over covers to smash it over the boundary. It is one of the most difficult shots to execute, especially when there’s no pace to offer. But the batter made it look so easy, which is a hallmark of his quality.

However, Shakib being the experienced campaigner he is, kept his composure and won the duel the next time he bowled to him. He enticed the batter to play some lofted shots and ensured the fieldset was ready for it. Jatinder smashed it straight to the long-leg fielder, in an attempt to clear the boundary, having scored  40 off 33 deliveries.

Here’s the video of that stunning shot from Jatinder Singh, that left Shakib Al Hasan and Bangladesh shell shocked

Jatinder Singh chipped in with a fifty in the opening game against Papua New Guinea, when Oman had to chase 130 runs for a win. The Omanis opener completed the run chase without having lost a wicket, with Aqib Ilyas scoring 43-ball 50 and Jatinder being the aggressor, who got 73 runs in just 42 balls. As it stands, he is the highest run-scorer in the tournament.
