Watch: Wicketkeeper keeps watching as overthrows go past him in shocking incident in ECS Sweden

Match 33 of Fancode ECS Sweden 2021 between team Nacka and Alby Zalmi CF saw a bizarre incident where wicketkeeper Sadat Sidiqi failed to collect throws multiple times and gave away crucial runs to the opposition.

Donning the gloves for Nacka, Sidiqi gave an insipid display of his prowess, conceding four runs when the damage should’ve been limited to just two.

The mishap took place on the third delivery of the fifth over in the Zalmi innings, of which opening Rahel Khan smashed right-arm seamer Zabi Zahid towards the wide long-on region. Having called batting partner Zia Alozai for a two, Rahel easily came back to the striker’s end.

Nacka keeper Sadat Sidiqi left a lot to be desired with his performance in ECS Sweden.

However, much to the surprise of the two batsmen, keeper Sidiqi questionably let go of a throw from fieldsman Khalid Zahid. As the ball reached near him, Sidiqi jumped over it and ended up conceding overthrows.

ECS Sweden: Nacka wicketkeeper Sadat Sidiqi makes horror attempt to collect the fielder’s throw

Seeing the keeper err at his end, Rahel immediately called his partner for another run as the third-man fielder collected the ball and threw it towards Sidiqi.

But that wasn’t all, as the gloveman once again failed to pick up the ball after a very casual attempt. Sidiqi made it seem as if he is deliberately letting the ball go again.

Taking advantage of the opposition wicketkeeper’s faulty display, Rahel and Alozai added one more run to their team’s tally.

Thankfully for the team Nacka, though, they were able to achieve victory on the day despite their wicketkeeper’s disappointing performance. Nacka came out triumphant by eight wickets as per the DLS method in a weather interrupted fixture counted towards the ECS Sweden.
