Pakistan have been winning hearts at the T20 World Cup with their stellar performances, and after their fourth successive win in the competition, they became the first team to officially qualify for the semi-finals of the tournament.

With the race in the groups tightening, Pakistan chose to bat first against Namibia (something most teams haven’t done given how conditions are conducive to batting second) and ambled along to 59/0 in 10 overs.

Pakistan soon pressed on the accelerator after a century stand from Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam and they added 130 runs in the last 10 overs to put on a mammoth total of 189.

Namibia were quite reasonable in their response, matching Pakistan run for run until the end of the 12th over before losing track.

Despite being the first team to make it through to the semi-finals, Pakistan players showed great spirit to visit the Namibian dressing room after the game to laud their stellar efforts in the tournament, which included winning three out of four matches before last night.

Namibia will come out of this World Cup with some great memories after toppling teams like Ireland and Scotland to reach the Super 12. In their first ever match of the Super 12 stage in a T20 World Cup, Namibia lit the stage with three wickets in the first over of the game against Scotland. It was encouraging to see Pakistan appreciate the efforts of this small nation in a big tournament like this.
