Shukla clears cooling-off hurdle

Shukla was the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) secretary till 2017 while he held the IPL Chairman role till 2018. Given that Shukla was a director of the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) since 2005, many objected that he is constitutionally not allowed to take up the BCCI role but Electoral Officer AK Joti ruled that out saying Shukla’s cooling-off period ended on June 26, 2020.

In light of that, Karnataka’s Brijesh Patel will continue as the IPL chairman for a second term. He will be joined by the Cricket Association of Mizoram’s M Khairul Jamal Majumdar for the two posts on the IPL Governing Council.
