Ravindra Jadeja ruled out of Ahmedabad Tests as healing takes more time than expected

Ravindra Jadeja, who had suffered a finger dislocation injury during the Sydney Test against Australia, has been ruled out of the last two Tests as well as his finger injury management is taking more time than usual.

Over the last half a decade, Jadeja has become an important cog in the wheel for the Indian team, especially in the home conditions, and his absence was truly felt in the first Test in Chennai. The Indian team management expected Jadeja to return for the last two games but now it seems entirely impossible.

As a matter of fact, the all-rounder was sent to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for ‘further management of his injury’ after consultation with a hand specialist in Sydney and it has emerged that his finger is taking longer than usual to recover.

India to change their future plan after Jadeja news?

This is a question that is as important to the Indian team’s plans going forward as far as their place in the World Test Championship is concerned. India are currently sitting on fourth position but have a great chance to secure a date against New Zealand in June if they can win all three games from here on.

Will that mean they will bring Kuldeep Yadav back to add variation to the bowling line up? Ravichandran Ashwin did a great job, picking nine wickets in his home ground, but Shahbaz Nadeem and Washington Sundar couldn’t really stand up to the expectations.

Both the spinners leaked too many runs that led Virat Kohli to state that the side was better placed with more variations from their spinners.

“There are no regrets whatsoever on that decision. Moving forward, we will think of the combinations which bring us variety as a bowling attack, and not one dimensional, turning away from the bat.” the India captain said in the press conference.
