“So how was your quarantine, my friend,” chief coach Ravi Shastri asked Sharma. Rohit Sharma exchanged greeting with several members of the Indian contingent including the likes of Cheteshwar Pujara, Umesh Yadav, Wriddhiman Saha, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Siraj and batting coach Vikram Rathour.

Ravi Shastri had stated on Tuesday that the medical team will look at Rohit’s physical condition and a decision to include him in the playing eleven for the third Test in Sydney will be made on the feedback provided by the medical team.

“We will have a chat with him to see where he is placed physically because he has been in quarantine for the last couple of weeks. We’ll also see how he feels before we take the call,” Shastri had said.

On December 11, BCCI had confirmed that Rohit Sharma had cleared the fitness test at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, which gave him the green signal for his departure to Australia. Sharma had picked up a hamstring injury during the Indian Premier League which kept him out of the limited overs format series against Australia.

The Indian management will have a lot of thinking to do, as to where Rohit Sharma bats in the current lineup. Indian legend, Sunil Gavaskar has backed Rohit Sharma to open alongside the youngster, Shubman Gill for the third Test match.
