SA vs SL: Kagiso Rabada returns to squad for 2nd Test

Kagiso Rabada who suffered a groin injury which ruled him out of the Boxing Day Test, has recovered in time and has been added to the Test squad to face Sri Lanka. Rabada was set to enter the bio-secure environment after clearing all covid-19 protocols.

Rabada’s inclusion means that the South African management will have plenty of pacers to choose from for the second Test. Lutho Sipamla was impressive in the first innings, as he picked up four wickets. Wiaan Mulder also contributed well, picking up three wickets. Lungi Ngidi and Anrich Nortje are the other noteworthy bowlers for the Proteas side.

Glenton Stuurnman was expected to debut in the first Test but missed out after carrying a niggle. Dwaine Pretorius came into the Test squad after he recovered from a hamstring injury that ruled him out of the England series.

Adding Rabada to the squad could be an early indication that the Proteas side could field an all pace attack for the second Test match, which is a possibility as the conditions are not favoring the spinners in the ongoing Test series.
