Shadab Khan to be sidelined for six weeks with Rectus Femoris muscle tear

Shadab Khan, who had sustained an injury during a T20I against Napier last week, has now been sidelined for at least six weeks. He has been diagnosed with “high-grade full-thickness tear to the Rectus Femoris muscle” and will thus miss the Test series against New Zealand and South Africa.

“The MRI reports have confirmed it is a fresh injury and not the one that had sidelined him from the Zimbabwe series last month,” Sohail Saleem, the Pakistan team doctor, said.

However, Shadab will not leave for Pakistan straightaway rather stay with the team so that doctors can follow his rehabilitation procedure while taking weekly ultrasound scans. The medical panel will assess and evaluate the injury before making a call on Shadab’s return to competitive cricket.
