The BCCI confirmed in a press release that concussion-hit Ravindra Jadeja will take no further part in the ongoing T20 series with Shardul Thakur replacing him in the squad.

Yesterday, in a very diabolical situation, Ravindra Jadeja had to be substituted by Yuzvendra Chahal just after the Saurashtra all-rounder played a valiant innings of 44 runs off 23 balls. Later, Chahal starred with the ball to guide India to 1-0 lead, securing the man of the match award in the process.

Australia was not convinced by Jadeja substitution

Australia were not convinced if the swap was indeed “like-for-like” but that will no further bearing with the BCCI ruling out Jadeja for the remainder of the T20I series. While Shardul Thakur will replace Jadeja for the last two matches, his comeback will also depend on how severe his hamstring injury is which he picked up during the game.

During the final over of India’s innings, a Mitchell Starc delivery struck the left side of his forehead after the ball ricocheted off the bat in the final over of India’s innings. After playing four more deliveries, a clinical assessment was conducted during the innings break by the BCCI medical team that later confirmed the concussion.
