AUS vs IND: Shubman Gill looking forward to counter Australia’s chin music
Shubman Gill, one of the highly rated Indian youngsters is looking forward to counter Australia’s old fashioned chin music. The India-Australia test series is often known for it’s sledging, mind games, chin music. Shubman Gill not only expects these sorts of tactics from the Australian fast bowling department but is also ready to counter it with the plenty of moves, the Indians have up their sleeves.
“There are different types of characters. Sometimes you keep quiet and don’t respond, and focus on your batting, and sometimes you react. That depends on how you are feeling at the moment. I am not the sort to keep quiet all the time, but I am not likely to say something each time too. So it depends… We sledge too. When teams come to India, we do get involved,” Shubman Gill told kkr.in.
“Things might have been different earlier, and maybe some of our batsmen were not as aggressive [in terms of scoring], especially in Test cricket. But now you get a result in almost every Test match, so if they come to us with chin music, we have plenty of moves to deal with their chin music.”

Shubman Gill a strong contender to open the innings
Shubman Gill was a part of both practice games against Australia A in lead-up to the first test at Adelaide which is a day-night affair. The 21 year old was impressive in his second outing as he scored 43 and 65 runs. With his recent performance, Gill has made a strong case for himself to be included in the playing 11 in the first test. Prithvi Shaw could manage to score just 62 runs in his four innings which makes Shubman Gill a strong contender to partner Mayank Agarwal at the top.
“It’s quite intimidating to play Australia in Australia, but I am really looking forward to it,” he said. “As a batsman, there is no bigger opportunity than to play against Australia at their home as your confidence gets a major boost if you manage to score runs here.”
