In a last minute change, Marco Jansen has replaced Ottniel Baartman in the South African squad for the series against Pakistan.
South Africa flew to Pakistan for the first time in 14 years as the Asian team will host a two-Test and three T20I series against the African nation in their own den.
While every South African player returned negative on tests conducted on Tuesday and Thursday, the management are forced to make a last minute change due to medical reason, replacing Ottniel Baartman with 20-year-old pacer Marco Jansen.
Although the exact cause is not written in the CSA press release, it was confirmed that it was for medical reasons and not related to COVID-19.
Jansen has only 12 first-class matches to his name but is currently sitting on the second position on this season’s first-class bowling charts, with 21 wickets at an average of 20.71 in the franchise four-day competition this summer. The youngster was a part of the South African A side that toured India in late 2019.
South Africa will play two Tests in Karachi and Rawalpindi while all three T20Is will be played in Lahore. Quinton de Kock will lead the side in all the games with South Africa yet to announce the full-time skipper for the Test side.
