Australia have another fresh injury concern as Steven Smith had to leave the training session on Tuesday, just ten minutes in because of a sore back. According to a report in the Sydney Morning Herald, Smith trained for just 10 minutes at the Adelaide Oval on Tuesday, and did not return later to bat in the nets.

A Cricket Australia spokesperson later confirmed the batsman would not be returning to practice until Wednesday. He also confirmed that Smith was receiving treatment for his sore back. Steven Smith arrived at the session on Tuesday but did not carry his equipment like the others and walked back to the pavilion after just a while.

This comes as a major blow to Australia, who have had a plethora of injuries before the day-night test against India that starts from December 17.  David Warner has been ruled out of the first test after an adductor strain which he suffered against India in the ODI series. Cameron Green is also a doubt for the first test after suffering a concussion in the second practice match against India.

Sean Abbott was also ruled out for the first test after he picked up a calf strain in the second practice match. He is currently in Sydney, continuing his rehabilitation program. Abbott is expected to join the Australian squad for Boxing Day test. Moises Henriques was brought in as a replacement for Abbott.
