The inaugural edition is all set to held in July-August this year, after the initial season was postponed owing to the covid-19 pandemic. Manchester Originals are one of the eight franchises to take part in the tournament. According to the rules, only one player holding the England men’s contract can be a part of each franchise and for the women players holding the ECB contract, the limit is two.

Jos Butler is Manchester Originals’ England men’s central contract player. On the other hand, Kate Cross and Sophie Ecclestone are England women’s central contracted players. The player draft for the 2021 season took place on February 22, with Manchester buying as many as ten players. New Zealand pacer Lockie Ferguson and West Indian all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite are notable additions to the squad.

With a shortened format, comprising of just 100 balls instead of the regular T20 format, Butler’s aggressive style of play will play a crucial factor in Manchester’s journey in the inaugural edition of The Hundred.

Sophie Ecclestone

Sophie Ecclestone will be leading the spin attack for the Manchester Originals Women’s Team

Sophie Ecclestone is a slow left-arm orthodox bowler and has represented the English women’s team in 25 ODI matches and 39 T20Is. The 21 year old spinner is economical and has a knack of picking wickets at regular intervals. She will play a pivotal role to guide Manchester Originals further in the tournament.

Lizelle Lee

Lizelle Lee is one of the top batters in the women’s game

Lizelle Lee is one of the most lethal batters in the women’s game. The South African has represented her nation in 76 T20Is so far, having scored 1692 runs at an impressive strike rate of 108.81. Her blistering knocks from the top of the order can play a vital role in her side’s chances this season.
