‘They should build 3-4 stadiums in their cities’ – Rohit Sharma’s hilarious reply over franchises questioning MI’s home advantage in IPL 2022
The 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is special for the Indian fans. The tournament has been expanded to 10 teams this time and most importantly, the whole season is set to be played in India in front of the crowd. The 2020 edition was entirely played in the UAE while the second half of IPL 2021 took place in the desert country after the first half was marred by COVID-19 cases.
This time around, the BCCI has staged the cash-rich league entirely in Maharashtra to avoid traveling for the team. Hence, 70 matches of the league stage are being played across four venues in Mumbai and Pune. But this has led to many questioning an unfair advantage to Mumbai Indians as they will be playing at home in three venues.

There was also a report that franchises were not happy with the five-time champions getting a home advantage. But to make sure the COVID-19 doesn’t enter the bubble like last year, the franchises had to agree as well. Interestingly, Rohit Sharma was also asked about the ‘unfair home advantage accusation’ ahead of the game against the Delhi Capitals.
The MI skipper, like he always does, had a hilarious response to the question. He asked the franchises to build multiple stadiums in their cities so that the IPL can be staged there and had a hearty laugh on it. “Many franchises objected to how Mumbai could play in Mumbai. They should try to build 3-4 Stadiums in their cities then,” he said while speaking in the pre-match press conference.

MI begin their IPL 2022 campaign with a loss again
Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians lost their opening game to the Delhi Capitals on Sunday (March 28) by four wickets. This is their 10th consecutive opening game loss in the T20 extravaganza. Interestingly, defending 178 runs, they had the Capitals on the mat at 104/6. But the duo Axar Patel and Lalit Yadav stunned them with a match-winning 75-run stand to help DC chase down the total.
