IPL 2021: Tom Moody appointed as the director of cricket for SRH

Tom Moody is back with Sunrisers Hyderabad, the IPL franchise he coached from 2013-2019. However, this time Moody will join the Hyderabad team as the Director of Cricket. Trevor Bayliss, the coach of the Sunrisers for the 2020 season will continue his role in 2021.

Sunrisers reached the playoffs in five of the seven years, Tom Moody was in charge as the head coach. He also guided them to the IPL title in 2016 and finished as the runner-up in 2018. Even in the absence of Moody, the Sunrisers made the playoffs in 2020, losing to Delhi Capitals in Qualifier 2.

Tom Moody, 55 years old, moved into coaching after retiring from the game in 2001. As a player, he was a part of two World Cup winning sides for Australia in 1987 and 1999. Even as a coach, he guided Sri Lanka to the finals in the ICC Cricket World Cup, 2007. He has been one of the most reputed coaches for domestic leagues like the PSL,CPL and the IPL. Moody has also enjoyed success with the English and Australian domestic teams.

Tom Moody was the coach of Kings XI Punjab in the IPL from 2008-2010, but found his success with the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Sunrisers finished the IPL on sixth place in 2014 and 2015, but after their title run in 2016, they have never failed to make the playoffs.
