Representing the counties of Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire in the inaugural edition of The Hundred will be Trent Rockets. The team based at the iconic venue in Trent Bridge will be led by Somerset all-rounder Lewis Gregory in the maiden 100-ball men’s competition this summer.

The Rockets will play four of their matches in Nottingham and four away from their home base. The Gregory led side will face all other seven franchises involved in one fixture each and repeat a clash with one of those during the tournament’s league stage.

If they finish among the top 3 in the points table, Trent Rockets will enter the play-offs and possible play the all-important finale at Lord’s on August 21. The Rockets begin their campaign with a match against Southern Brave at home on July 24, two days after the tournament officially starts.

Trent Rockets batsmen who could potentially be The Hundred’s highest run-makers

1. Alex Hales

Out of favour from the England selectors for more than 2 years now, opening batsman Alex Hales will be eyeing a bumper tournament for the Trent Rockets. Hales has been in very good form playing in leagues around the world since his ouster from the England setup just prior to the 2019 World Cup.

The Nottinghamshire right-hand batsman has looked a class apart in the T20 Blast this summer, scoring 382 runs from 11 innings at an average of 47.75 and strike-rate of 172.07. Hales blasted a magnificent hundred against Lancashire to send a befitting reminder of his ability.

2. Dawid Malan

Dawid Malan is another crucial cog in Trent Rockets’ wheels for The Hundred this summer. The experienced left-hand batsman boasts of a very impressive T20I record to his name for England. He has now struck 1,090 runs in 27 T20Is at a strike-rate of 143.04 while maintaining an average of 47.39. The 33-year-old Malan has been the No.1 batsman in ICC T20I rankings for a while now. Malan will be hoping to continue his good run and shape matches for Trent Rockets, who’ll certainly depend on him.

3. Luke Wright

Wright has not played for England for more than seven years now, but the all-round cricketer has still kept himself relevant playing for different teams in leagues around the world. The 36-year-old Sussex cricketer will be entering the inaugural season of The Hundred for Trent Rockets with some good form behind him. He has struck 213 runs, including a best of 77, from his 5 innings in the T20 Blast this summer with an average of 53.25 and strike-rate of 170.40.
