Ravi Bishnoi had played all 14 games last season for the Punjab Kings and picked up 12 wickets, but the young leg-spinner found games difficult to come by. However, upon his return to the side, Bishnoi chipped in with a sensational spell against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

In a low-scoring game at Sharjah, batters on both sides found it incredibly difficult to get going as the pitch remained on the slower side throughout the game. The Sunrisers Hyderabad managed to restrict the Punjab Kings to just 125 runs in their 20 overs. Besides Aiden Markram and KL Rahul, no one went past the 20-run mark among Punjab batters. Holder picked up 3 wickets for the Sunrisers with his brilliant mix-ups.

The spinners found great turn and bounce and after Rashid Khan‘s brilliant spell of 1/17, we saw another outrageous performance from a leg-spinner.

A valiant effort on comeback from Ravi Bishnoi

Bishnoi registered figures of 3/24 on his return.

Bishnoi’s long run-up allows him to generate great pace and drift, and his loopy googlies are as dangerous as they can get on this track. He was hit for a boundary off his second ball of the spell, but managed to get his revenge by the end of the over as his googly drove through Pandey’s gates and smashed the stumps. After that, there was no looking back for the 21-year-old from Jodhpur.

In his third over, Kedar Jadhav tried to play a late cut to a smartly bowled googly and his timber was shattered. In the same over, Abdul Samad’s miscued attempt to heave it for a six took a top edge and Chris Gayle took a simple catch inside the circle. After surviving a lot of time on the bench, Bishnoi made his think tank regret the decision to not have him in the XI previously.

Despite Jason Holder getting a six off him in his final over, he finished with impressive figures of 3/24. Twitterati was fairly impressed by the youngster and showered in praises. Take a look at some of them here.
