“Are you kidding me?” Twitter reacts to Tayla Vlaeminck’s unlikely 145 Kph delivery
Australia’s Tayla Vlaeminck is one of their most talented fast bowlers, and is also one of their fastest in the current crop. She is capable of hitting the 120 kph mark from time to time, but the speed gun during the 1st T20I against India seemed to have overemphasized her ability courtesy a glitch, that got everyone on social media talking.
Vlaeminck bowled the opening over of the game, and the speedometer showed that she bowled at 145 kph. Although it is believed that there was a technical glitch that showed such exasperated numbers, the feeling is that all of her deliveries were under 120 kph.
Indian batters got off to a fantastic start at the Cararra Oval. Although rain played spoilsport, everyone in the Indian top six chipped in with crucial runs to help India get to 131 for the loss of 4 wickets in 15.2 overs. What started with a drizzle, turned out to be relentless and the game never resumed post that. Jemimah Rodrigues chipped in with an unbeaten 36-ball 49, whilst Shafali Verma, Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur failed to capitalize on their starts.
Had this been true, Tayla Vlaeminck would’ve overtaken Cathryn Fitzpatrick for the fastest delivery bowled by an Australian. The former Australian fast bowler, considered to be one of the greatest in the women’s game, was the first female cricketer to pick 100 ODI wickets and also clocked 125 kph at a point.
Currently, the likes of Shabnim Ismail of South Africa and Lea Tahuhu of New Zealand hold the top two spots on the list of the fastest deliveries bowled at the international level. Shabnim Ismail officially recorded the highest speed of 128 kph whilst Tahuhu clocked 126 kph. In the current Australian side, Ellyse Perry is more than capable of hitting numbers north of 120.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to this glitch, that prompted an unreal number on the speed gun for Tayla Vlaeminck
That speed gun just showed Vlaeminck bowling at 145 kmph! I know it’s wrong, but it totally feels like it! #AUSvIND

Shafali was genuinely surprised with that ball going for six!
But, a great start from Tayla Vlaeminck too; first game in a long time, and she's immensely exciting to watch.
Speed gun showed two 145ks in a row (probably need some calibration)!#AUSvIND #AUSvsIND #AUSWvINDW pic.twitter.com/1deqzNJckt

Tayla Vlaeminck bowled 4 overs and conceded 32 runs, without any major rewards to her credit. However, she made plenty on social media talk about her potential record-breaking delivery.
