Umran Malik, a net bowler in the Sunrisers Hyderabad setup, was added to the main squad in the UAE leg of IPL 2021 after T Natarajan was ruled out for a few games with COVID-19. The 21-year old had warmed the bench until Sunday night when he was unleashed against Kolkata Knight Riders with teams knowing little about what to expect from the Jammu and Kashmir pacer.
In a sensational start to his spell, Umran Malik set the stage on fire with his very first over in IPL 2021, stunning fans and viewers with his searing pace. Each of his six deliveries in the first over were clocked at over 140 kph.
He touched the 150 kph mark, becoming the fastest Indian in IPL 2021 in the process. No Indian had bowled a delivery over 150 clicks in the 2021 season with Mohammed Siraj (147.68 kph) recording the fastest ball before this by an Indian.
Umran Malik, another rare player in the league from Jammu and Kashmir, was welcomed to the league by Irfan Pathan who tweeted his inclusion in the SRH setup with much happiness.

Umran Malik is as raw as it gets. He has played just one List A game and one T20 before in his career. He was smashed for 98 runs in his 10 overs in the List A game and picked up 3.24 in his T20 debut earlier this year against Railways.
But, literally nobody was prepared for the heat he displayed on IPL debut.
