Delhi have had a rocky ride in the tournament so far, as three of their matches were washed out so far. However, they have bagged two victories too and hence are a bit well-placed than others, the irregular weather conditions notwithstanding. Vidarbha, on the other hand, have won once in six games. Like Delhi, three of their encounters were abandoned without a result too, and they have ended up defeated twice too.
Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019-20
Delhi vs Vidarbha
October 11th, 2019
9:00 AM IST
Gujarat State Fertilizer Corporation Ground, Vadodara
Sunny weather with merely 3% chances of rain and the temperature ranging around 28 degrees Celsius is expected during the course of the game.
The track on offer here has been a bit tricky, as the ball does a bit in the beginning and it tends to wear down as the game progresses. However, batsmen would find batting more convenient if they spend some more time in the middle.
Predicted Playing XI:
Dhruv Shorey and Nitish Rana form the core of the batting order for Delhi as they would be banked upon to do the majority of the scoring as well. Navdeep Saini would be a force to reckon with the ball whereas the likes of Manan Sharma and Pawan Negi would be key in the lower-middle order.
Hiten Dalal, Kunwar Bidhuri, Anuj Rawat (wk), Dhruv Shorey (C), Nitish Rana, Himmat Singh, Manan Sharma, Pawan Negi, Lalit Yadav, Navdeep Saini, Simarjeet Singh
Faiz Fazal and Wasim Jaffer would be expected to accumulate the runs at the top-order and the side would hope that at least one of them bat the length of the innings as well. Akshay Wakhare has made waves with his performances in the domestic circuit in recent times and hence he along with Aditya Sarwate would be the other crucial members if Vidarbha are to turn their fortunes around.
Faiz Fazal, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Wasim Jaffer (C), Ganesh Satish, Aditya Sarwate, Rushabh Rathod, Darshan Nalkande, Akshay Karnewar, Akshay Wadkar, Yash Thakur, Akshay Wakhare
Dhruv Shorey looked in fine form in Delhi’s last game against Odhisa, where has scored 51 runs before being unfortunately dismissed hit wicket. He looks in a good enough touch to be drafted in the Dream XI side. Pawan Negi was quite effective with his defensive bowling skills as he gave away only 38 runs in his quota of 10 overs when the opposition was chasing a total that required almost 6 RPO. He even scalped a wicket and could add valuable runs down the order if and when required. Darshan Nalkande helped his team bowl out Haryana for merely 83 runs in their last match, as he notched four dismissals and hence should be a mandatory inclusion in this particular match as well.
1: Dhruv Shorey
2: Darshan Nalkande
3: Nitish Rana
