Delhi have endured a weird tournament so to say, so far. They have won only two of their seven matches, lost the other two, but have somehow gained a sizable number of points through the three games that were washed out due to rains. Punjab though, are placed on the second spot in the table, having bagged 24 points as they have lost only once in nine games; having won in four and the other four being abandoned due to the poor weather conditions.
Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019
Delhi vs Punjab
Motibaug Cricket Ground, Vadodara
October 14th, 2019
9:00 AM IST
Sunny weather with the temperature ranging around 27 degrees Celsius and zilch chances of rains is expected during the course of the game.
One can look forward to a pretty fresh track that ails batting and has something on offer for the slower bowlers as the game progresses as well.
Predicted Playing XI:
Shikhar Dhawan would be banked upon to do the majority of the scoring early on whereas the likes of Nitish Rana and Dhruv Shorey will take up the responsibilities in the middle order. Pawan Negi and Manan Sharma would be the key in the lower-middle order whilst Navdeep Saini will spearhead the attack
Shikhar Dhawan, Hiten Dalal, Anuj Rawat (WK), Dhruv Shorey (C), Nitish Rana, Himmat Singh, Lalit Yadav, Pawan Negi, Manan Sharma, Navdeep Saini, Simarjeet Singh
Abhishek Sharma would hope to do justice to the potential that he carries and hence his promotion to the top order is a great move. Mandeep Singh and Gurkeerat Mann Singh add experience in the middle order whilst Mayank Markande and Siddarth Kaul would be tasked with leading the bowling attack with aplomb.
Abhishek Sharma, Sanvir Singh, Anmolpreet Singh, Mandeep Singh, Ramandeep Singh, Gurkeerat Singh Mann (C), Karan Kaila, Anmol Malhotra (WK), Mayank Markande, Siddarth Kaul, Sandeep Sharma
Nitish Rana was in an absolutely imperious run against Vidarbha in Delhi’s last game as he scored an excellent 100 runs before scalping three dismissals in 10 overs after having conceded 36 runs only. This all-round performance surely propels him to be chosen in the Dream XI side without a shed of doubt. Gurkeerat Singh Mann played the anchor to perfection in Punjab’s previous encounter as he scored 66 runs in the middle order and somewhat arrested the top-order collapse quite well. Karan Kaila had a great game from Punjab’s perspective as well, as he notched four dismissals in 10 overs, and in return giving away only 22 runs in the entire spell. These three look to be in a good enough touch to be considered for selection in the fantasy XI unit.
