In one of the most bizarre dismissals on a cricket field, Australia wrist-spinner Adam Zampa once inflicted a run out at the non-striker’s end with his ‘nose’. Yes, his nose.

The unforgettable run out is from the Melbourne derby encounter in the 2015-16 edition of the Big Bash League (BBL). Playing for the Stars against the Renegades at the Docklands Stadium, Zampa was involved in the rarest of rare scenes.

The incident took place in the 13th over of the game where Renegades batsman Dwayne Bravo played a flourishing drive off a full-pitched delivery which later deflected off non-striker Peter Nevill’s bat to hit Zampa hard on his nose.

But while the bowler immediately went down on the ground in unbearable pain, the ball rebounded off the face to hit the stumps with Nevill well short of his crease. Notably, rather than feeling disappointed that he has just gotten run out, Nevill showed concern towards Zampa and checked if he is alright.

In fact, all of the Stars fielders, Bravo, and the two on-field umpires surrounded Zampa seconds later as the bowler had sustained a horrible blow to his face and had a bleeding nose.

Moments later, the medical staff attended the bowler and quickly stopped the bleeding around his nose with the help of the cotton.

Zampa, however, still stayed on the field and bravely finished his four-over quota for figures of 1/35 in Stars’ eight-wicket win.

Following the change of innings, Adam Zampa was seen sitting in the Melbourne Stars dugout and could find the funny side of things with a gesture towards the camera.
