The Big Bash League is throwing up all kinds of spectacular this season and on Wednesday it was Cameron Boyce’s turn. The Melbourne Renegades leg-spinner picked up one of the rarest feats on a cricket field – a double hat-trick!

With Alex Hales and skipper Usman Khawaja, fresh off a stellar Ashes stint, starting ridiculously well for Sydney Thunder, the Renegades were forced onto the back-foot. The duo put on 80 in 7 overs before the stand was broken with Hales picked up by Boyce – holing out to the deep while trying to take the leggie on.

First ball of next over, Boyce got rid of Jason Sangha with one that turned square and beat the batter, who was rushing out to loft him. With two in two, Boyce was on a hat-trick, split between overs. He completed the feat to little celebrations when he had Alex Ross, trying to reverse sweep him, trapped in front next ball.

Boyce wasn’t done, though. Daniel Sams, promoted to up the ante, was his next victim and it came off the very next ball – his fourth wicket in four balls.

Sams was trying to play all around a leg break and ended up playing it with his pads to be trapped in front to give Boyce a rare feat.

Boyce is the first player in the BBL to take a double hat-trick while he becomes the 10th player to do it in T20s. Ireland’s Curtis Campher was the last to do it in T20s achieving the feat in the T20 World Cup last year in UAE.

Boyce went on to add a fifth wicket to finish with stellar figures of 4-0-21-5!
