Australia’s David Warner imitated Hasan Ali’s trademark celebration during the fifth day’s play of the third Test at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. After two drawn games in Rawalpindi and Karachi, the final game of the three-match series produced a result. Australia won the match by 115 runs after bowling the opposition out for 235 in the fourth innings. They also won the series 1-0.

Warner imitated Hasan Ali’s ‘bomb-explosion’ celebration after the latter got out. Hasan Ali went for a sweep shot off Nathan Lyon, but the ball spun and hit his helmet. Thereafter the ball ricocheted off his gloves to the stumps. While the batter was trying to comprehend what happened, Warner came in front of him and performed the celebration.

After being asked to chase 351, Pakistan got off to a more than decent start. Abdullah Shafique and Imam-ul-Haq put on 77 runs for the opening wicket to put the hosts in a position of command. Cameron Green separated the duo after getting rid of Shafique, who scored 27 with three fours and one six.

Imam showed a great amount of patience and scored 70 runs off 199 balls with five fours. Lyon removed him as Pakistan lost their third wicket with the score at 142. Lyon turned out to be the destroyer in chief as he picked up a five-wicket haul and made regular inroads into the opposition batting on a deteriorating batting strip in Lahore.

Babar Azam tried to hold his ground after scoring 55 runs off 104 balls with six fours. But Lyon pinned him to cut short his stay. The middle-order couldn’t perform one bit as the Pakistan batting collapsed on the fifth day. Mohammad Rizwan didn’t have a great outing as Pat Cummins, who picked up a fifer in the first innings, removed him for a duck.

After the fifer, Cummins also got three wickets in the second innings and won the Player of the Match award. Sajid Khan showed some resistance, scoring 21 off 47 before Mitchell Starc accounted for his wicket. Left-handed batter Usman Khawaja became the Player of the Series after he scored 496 runs at an average of 165.33.
