Mohammed Siraj has been having an excellent time in the Indian Premier League this edition, and his final over in the Eliminator contest between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders was a testament to that. He managed to dismiss the dangerous Sunil Narine and Dinesh Karthik in the 18th over, which ensured Bangalore survived another over.
Siraj beat Narine up for pace and knocked his stumps over, and followed it up with a peach to dismiss Dinesh Karthik, which also needed a fantastic catch from KS Bharat. Siraj’s inswinger was a little too straightish to attempt a cut shot, and Karthik failed to read the line properly. He under-edged it while attempting the exact shot, and Bharat had to bend low to take a stunning catch.
The on-field officials were not convinced with the legitimacy of the catch, and decided to go upstairs. Upon viewing the catch from different angles, for nearly 5 minutes, the third umpire Anil Choudhary gave it out. Bharat just about managed to get his fingers underneath the ball and did a good job to ensure it doesn’t meet the grass.

Dinesh Karthik, however, started walking back way before the umpire had given it out.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore very nearly negated Sunil Narine’s unreal performance with the bat and ball, as they dragged Kolkata to the final over before Shakib Al Hasan and Eoin Morgan finished it. Sunil Narine chipped in with a game-turning 26 off 15 with the bat, which included 3 sixes of his first 3 deliveries, that evaded RCB’s brief little comeback in the game.
Although the likes of Yuzvendra Chahal and Harshal Patel did a fantastic job to bring Bangalore back in the hunt, the damage done by Narine was too significant to repair. Virat Kohli finished his era as the captain of the Royal Challengers Bangalore with this game, marking an end to a memorable era in RCB’s history.
