WATCH: Disgraceful decision by TV umpire saves Devdutt Padikkal, leaves Rahul & Punjab fuming

A ridiculous error from the third umpire had social media and Punjab Kings fuming as Devdutt Padikkal was saved despite the use of technology and clear evidence that pointed to him being dismissed.

The incident occured in the eighth over of the RCB innings when Ravi Bishnoi was targetting Devdutt Padikkal’s fourth stump line. Recognising the line of attack, Padikkal went for a premeditated reverse sweep, but missed it entirely.

KL Rahul and Ravi Bishnoi were convinced of the outside edge on the sweep and immediately went upstairs when the on-field umpire declined the appeal.

Multiple replays played out on screen as the TV umpire, Krishnamachari Srinivasan, checked the DRS review by Punjab Kings. The snickometer clearly showed a small spike as the ball passed Padikkal’s glove and even as everyone expected the ‘OUT’ signal to pop up, the umpire conveyed that the TV umpire had declared it ‘NOT OUT’.

Shocked by the decision, Rahul and Bishnoi went up to the umpires immediately, questioning the call when they, like the viewers, saw the clear spike on snicko.

The umpire refused to budge much to everyone’s shock and social media was rife with reactions as Padikkal survived the appeal and Punjab Kings lost a review.

The shocked reaction on social media and the huge spike as the ball passed the bat made the decision a dubious one, leaving everyone in shock.
