Watch: Dog invades pitch, runs away with the ball in Ireland women’s T20 Cup

A cricket field is no stranger to witnessing unwelcome guests during a game, one gentleman in particular in the United Kingdom had repeatedly found a way to sneak inside the playing area during the England-India Test series. A little strangely in Ireland, during the All-Ireland T20 Cup game between CSNI CC and Bready Cricket Club, a dog managed to make its way onto the field.

CSNI CC needed 75 runs to win in 12 overs and during their run chase, they found the strange guest with a leash storming its way into the middle. It somehow managed to grab hold of the ball and ran around the pitch for a while. It sparked laughter among the players and broadcasters, before Aoife Fisher at the non-striker’s end managed to get the ball away from the dog.

Ireland Women’s Twitter account posted the video on Twitter and it managed to spark a lot of attention and reshares. Twitter users made some hilarious comments, calling it “Jarvo 69’s pet” and plenty more.

Ireland Women register a stunning win in T20 World Cup qualifiers

Things have been going well for the Ireland women, who are currently taking part in the T20 World Cup qualifiers in Spain. They registered a 24-run win in their fixture against the Netherlands in the afternoon, courtesy of a brilliant half-century from Eimear Richardson. Despite not scoring plenty batting first, Richardson and Gaby Lewis helped their side get to 111 runs in their 20 overs.

With the ball, Laura Delany and Cara Murray chipped in with three wickets each as the Irish women kept the pressure on the Dutch right from the outset. All they could manage in reply was just 87 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. This win made it 3 wins out of 4 for the Irish women and they are currently second in the European qualifiers table.
