An unreal turnout of events saw the game between USA and Canada head into a super over when both sides clashed in the ICC World T20 qualifier fixture. Canada batted first and scored 142 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Ravinderpal Singh and skipper Navneet Dhaliwal chipped in with 44 runs each for the Canadian unit, as the side posted a decent total to defend.

The USA did not get off to the best of starts, losing 5 wickets for just 42 runs at the halfway mark. However, the likes of Nisarg Patel, Jaskaran Malhotra and Karima Gore chipped in with crucial contributions in the second half of the second innings, which helped the side get close to the total.

In the final over of the innings, they needed 13 runs to win the game and managed to score 10 runs off the first 5 deliveries. Jaskaran Malhotra’s wicket fell off the second delivery, who ran himself out in an attempt to sneak a run. Gore lost his wicket too, which left Ali Khan and former Proteas cricketer Rusty Theron in the middle.

Ali Khan and Rusty Theron pulled off an unbelievable heist to help USA register a much-needed win,

Off the final ball of the innings, with three runs needed to win the game, a comedy of errors and some brilliant presence of mind from  Theron, saved USA’s day. The batters scampered for a run with Ali Khan missing the delivery. The keeper threw the ball to the non-striker, and the bowler Jatinderpal Matharu took the stumps off and ran away in celebrations assuming that the batter is short.

However, that wasn’t the case, and as the bowler and other fielders were celebrating, Theron prompted Khan to complete another single which alerted the Canadians to prevent the third. However, the damage was already done and after plenty of discussions that lasted over 5 minutes, the runs were given to the USA, and the game headed into the Super Over.

Here’s moment from the Canadian bowler that resulted in a super over out of nowhere

That little mistake cost Canada a little too much, as USA batted first in the super over and scored 22 runs. In response, the Canadians only managed 14 runs in Ali Khan’s bowling and won the game by 8 runs in the super over.
