Shimron Hetmyer and Dwayne Bravo had quite the duel during the final few overs of the game. Bravo, who had not bowled for the first 17 overs of the game, only came on to bowl the death overs, taking his position as the death bowling specialist a bit too seriously. He struggled to find his line throughout the 10 deliveries he bowled on the day, and Hetmyer was brilliantly collecting some crucial runs.

Hetmyer had smashed him for a boundary down the ground, which infuriated Bravo, and also added a bit more pressure on the bowler. However, he couldn’t do anything about it as he bowled it wide outside off yet again, only for the umpire to stretch his hands and gift another run. Bravo could’ve had his West Indian teammate on the next ball if Krishnappa Gowtham had not spilled a sitter at long-on, and he had too few runs left to defend in the final over.

After a bit of drama in the final over, Hetmyer managed to see his side through with Kagiso Rabada getting the winning runs for the Capitals. But after the game was done, the heat between the players had settled and the Caribbean men provided a moment to savor. Hetmyer got on Bravo’s back and celebrated his win, whilst Bravo had a huge smile on his face.

Hetmyer produces a crucial contribution under pressure

Despite having a stroke of luck with Krishnappa Gowtham dropping that catch, Shimron Hetmyer saw the side through quite smartly. After getting those two crucial boundaries off Bravo in the 18th over, Hetmyer struck a massive six towards the longest boundary off Josh Hazlewood. He backed himself to clear the big boundary and pummelled a length delivery towards backward square for a gigantic six, that brought the equation to the run-a-ball territory.

Hetmyer finished with 28 runs in 18 balls, which was pivotal in helping his side in securing another crucial win in their hunt to finish in the top two.
