Shaheen Afridi and David Warner were involved in a hilarious incident at the close of play on Day three of the ongoing Test between Australia and Pakistan. At the stumps at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Afridi bowled a short delivery and Warner safely fended it away. Warner and non-striker Usman Khawaja thought of taking a single off the last ball of the day’s play before bailing out.

Afridi, in the meantime, went up to Warner in his follow through and stood in front of him for quite a while. Warner also responded in a funny way to Afridi’s reaction. The commentators also had a laugh about the fun banter in the middle. Warner stayed unbeaten on four as Australia ended Day three with a massive lead of 134 runs with all their second innings wickets intact.

After three days, Australia are on the driver’s seat. After bowling the visitors out for 391 in the first innings, Pakistan looked good to get a big lead under their belt. The hosts were coasting along at 214 for two with Azhar Ali and skipper Babar Azam in the middle. But from there on, Pakistan lost their last eight wickets for a mere 54 runs.

After Fawad Alam, who scored 13 while batting at No.5, none of the Pakistan batters got into double digits. Pat Cummins was the star of the show as he picked up a five-wicket haul and gave away only 56 runs in 24 overs. He got the apt support from Mitchell Starc, who got a four-wicket haul as well.

Starc bowled a couple of beauties to get rid of Alam and Mohammad Rizwan. Nathan Lyon got the prized wicket of Abdullah Shafique, who top-scored for Pakistan with 81 runs off 228 balls. In the end, Pakistan conceded Australia a first innings lead of 123 runs.

As far as Shaheen is concerned, he picked up four wickets in the first innings and the hosts would expect him to deliver a similar performance in the second innings as well. Warner would also like to make amends after scoring only seven runs in the first innings.
