Virat Kohli’s century drought has confounded fans and pundits alike and while the veteran batsman has always maintained that he feels he is contributing to the team with valuable knocks, the lack of a big knock is starting to take its toll.

Kohli has been getting good starts but hasn’t been able to kick on from it in recent times and that has carried into this England series where he hasn’t yet made a huge impact. After being caught either by the keeper or the slip off quicks through this series, Kohli found a new way to be dismissed on Sunday.

The Indian skipper nicked Moeen Ali to first slip while looking to open the face of the bat against the off-spinner. On 44 at the time, having just creamed a terrific cover drive off James Anderson, Kohli was expected to carry on. However, much like in the first innings, Kohli gave it away just when India needed him to carry on.

Frustrated by the mode of dismissal or his inability to kick on from the start, Kohli was seen banging the dressing room door in disgust.

Watch the Kohli dismissal and him slamming the dressing room door here:

Kohli’s dismissal came at a time the game was right in the balance and the skipper would have been gutted to leave India in a difficult situation after having done the hard yards.

Luckily, Rishabh Pant and Shardul Thakur carried on from there, making individual fifties and taking India to a pretty good lead.
