WATCH: Naseem Shah gets Steve Smith again with a cracker

Naseem Shah dismissed Steve Smith with an absolute corker during Pakistan’s third and final Test against Australia at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. In the first innings, the young pacer got rid of Smith, who was batting on 59 runs with six fours. In the second innings, Shah produced another beauty to send Smith back to the hut.

Shah bowled a back-of-a-length delivery from over the wicket and Smith tentatively poked at it. But Smith could only find a thin inside edge. Thereafter Mohammad Rizwan dived on to his left and took a decent catch. The Pakistan players, including Shah and Rizwan, appealed after which the on-field umpire gave Smith out.

Smith was a tad unsure of whether or not he had hit the ball. Hence, he decided to use a Decision Review System (DRS) referral. Replays showed that there was a huge spike on UltraEdge when the ball passed the bat.

Thereafter, Aleem Dar’s on-field call stood and Smith had to go back. The New South Wales-born Smith perished after scoring 17 runs off 27 balls with one four.

After Smith got out, Travis Head came out and played a few shots before Australia declared their second innings on 227 for three. Usman Khawaja, who missed a ton in the first innings by a mere nine runs, stayed unbeaten on 104 off 178 balls with eight fours.

David Warner, who missed out in the first innings, scored a well-made half-century to make amends. Shaheen Afridi, Shah and Nauman Ali picked up one wicket apiece for Pakistan in Australia’s second innings.

After the Aussies set a target of 351, Pakistan ended proceedings on Day four with their score at 73 for no loss in 27 overs. Even as Abdullah Shafique stayed not out on 27, the in-form Imam-ul-Haq also remained unbeaten on 42 off 93 balls.

On Day five, Pakistan need 278 runs to win the game and the series 1-0. Australia, on the other hand, need to pick 10 wickets to emerge victorious. The first two Test at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium and National Stadium in Karachi ended in draws.
