In the Everest Premier League, a Nepal player named Bhuvan Karki rolled the clock to the time Jonty Rhodes flew in the air and dismissed Inzamam-ul-Haq. The incident took place between Bharahawa Gladiators and Pokhara Rhinos, who were contesting in the playoff game to reach the final.

Having posted a 120-run target for the Pokhara Rhinos to chase, the Gladiators got off to a decent start, where they managed to restrict flow of runs against former South African star Richard Levi and Rit Gautam. Gautam never got going and pressure was firmly on the 33-year-old to deliver. Both players got desperate for runs and in that process, they found each other in a calamitous mixup.

Gautam had defended a ball in the 4th over neatly towards the cover fielder. He walked forward a few steps in anticipation of a run, and Levi concurred with his partner. The Proteas cricketer had walked a bit too far and provided Bhuvan Karki to unleash the inner Jonty Rhodes in him.

Upon noticing that Levi was well beyond the non-striker crease and bowler nowhere close to collect the ball, Karki took no chances and sprinted towards the stumps, before launching a full-fledged dive to dislodge the bails. Levi had stopped running upon realizing there was no chance for him to get back. Karki, who made a stellar dive, dislodged all three stumps.

Here’s that Jonty Rhodes encore dismissal from the Everest Premier League fixture.

Jonty Rhodes, in the 1992 World Cup group stage game between Pakistan and South Africa, did something similar to dismiss the dangerous Inzamam-ul-Haq. The feisty Pakistani batter was all over the South Africans, and his side were in a good position to chase down the revised target. However, Jonty Rhodes’ brilliant effort saw Pakistan lose their way and eventually succumb by 20 runs.

But in the encore version, Bhuvan Karki’s side ended up losing the game and Pokhara Rhinos entered the final after winning the game by 7 wickets. Despite losing 3 early wickets, Sahan Arachchige and Bipin Rawal ensured Rhinos got over the line with an unbeaten 88-run partnership.
