Internet sensation Pavel Florin of Romania made headlines in the Dream11 European Cricket Championship on Wednesday for his on-field antics in the game against Hungary.

 

Florin, who had been the toast of the internet, for his dibbly dobbly bowling action that went viral during ECL19, holds the record for the best bowling strike-rate in T20Is (min 10 innings bowled in)!

However, he grabbed headlines for different reasons in the European Cricket Championship on Wednesday. Batting at No.11 for Romania against Hungary, Florin smashed his first boundary in a ECN tournament. 

The 42-year old moved across his off-stump and clubbed a low full toss to the deep square leg boundary for four. To celebrate his incredible shot, Florin swiftly went down on one knee and swirled his bat around before walking off at the end of the innings.

The celebration was reminiscent of S Sreesanth’s famous antics in the Test match against South Africa in 2006-07. Turned off by Nel’s sledging, Sreesanth stepped out to smash him for six before moving to do a dance with his bat.

“Andre Nel was talking a lot,” Sreesanth told Sportskeeda later. “He kept saying that Indians don’t have a heart and that they (South Africa) were the better team. I wanted to tell him to look at the scoreboard once; we had the upper hand. I had gotten out for a duck in the first innings, and a lot of our better batsmen hadn’t scored too many runs that day.”

Florin, whose on-field antics include rushing to the commentary box to grab a mic and comment while the action was on in the field, did a Sreesanth on Wednesday in the Dream11 European Cricket Championship.
