WATCH: Rajvardhan Hangargekar frustrated after dropped catch; dismisses Robin Uthappa next ball in CSK practice game

Rajvardhan Hangargekar came to the limelight after his strong showing for India U19 over the past three months or so. He bowled well in the Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and then was a part of the victorious India U19 team in the World Cup in the West Indies. The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) thereafter picked him in the mega auction to play in the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL).

He recently took part in a practice game where he showed his skills with the ball in hand. To start with, the rub of the green didn’t go his way. The pacer bowled a short delivery and batter Robin Uthappa tried to go downtown for a six. The fielder at long-on dropped a simple catch and Hangargekar was disappointed by the lacklustre effort.

But in the very next ball, Hangargekar accounted for Uthappa’s wicket. He bowled a slower bouncer and Uthappa went for a similar shot down the ground. The batter hit the ball a little straighter and this time, the fielder didn’t make any mistake in catching the ball.

Hangargekar was over the moon after getting rid of Uthappa, who joined the Super Kings last season after playing for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in 2020. Uthappa had to warm the bench for most of the time last season before he replaced Suresh Raina in the playing eleven.

As far as the Super Kings are concerned, they are the defending champions and the second-most successful team in the IPL with four titles. They will be captained by MS Dhoni, who has been there with the franchise since the inaugural edition back in 2008.

The Yellow Army will begin their campaign in IPL 2022 against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on March 26 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Last year, the Super Kings defeated the Knights in the final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

CSK, in the meantime, is waiting for an official update on Deepak Chahar, who is still recovering from a quadricep injury. The Super Kings bought him for INR 14 crore in the mega auction in Bangalore.
