Rashid Khan is wily and lethal when it comes to bowling leg-breaks and googlies, but the fact that he is an efficient batter can’t be denied. On Saturday, January 29, the youngster gave an account of the damage he can do with the bat in hand. He played a brief cameo of 17 runs off four balls while playing for Lahore Qalandars against Multan Sultans in the PSL 2022.

The right-hander came to bat in the final over after the Sultans put the Qalandars in to bat first. Rashid got off the mark with a stylish six off Shahnawaz Dahani over the backward point region. In the very next ball, Rashid played an audacious stroke and collected back-to-back two sixes.

Rashid crouched low and stylishly flicked the ball on the leg side. The batter didn’t even bother looking at the leather as he cleared the ropes with utmost ease. He followed it up with a four in the third ball he faced after which he picked up a single.

Rashid was also exceptional with the ball as he finished with figures of 4-0-28-1 on an excellent batting strip at the National Stadium in Karachi. The tweaker got rid of Shan Masood, who top-scored for the Sultans with a 50-ball 83, laced with 14 fours and one six.

But his effort went in vain as the Qalandars lost the match by five wickets after the Sultans chased down 207 with two balls left. To start with, the Qalandars scored 206 for five on the back of opener Fakhar Zaman’s 35-ball 76.

From there on, Masood took charge in the Sultans’ run-chase. He got the apt support from Mohammad Rizwan, who hit six fours and three sixes on his way to a 42-ball 69. Khushdil Shah hit three fours and a six off Haris Rauf to help the Sultans win.
