India were poised to take a lead on day four, but instead ended up being bowled out for 278 to concede the Test by an innings and 76 runs. Overnight batters, Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli failed to kick on big time from their scores on day three with Pujara the first to fall on day four, not adding another run to his overnight score.

Kohli followed soon after and the procession followed as Ollie Robinson grabbed a five-wicket haul to seal England’s first Test win of the summer after losses to New Zealand and India earlier in the last three months.

India’s outrageous collapse on notwithstanding, Rishabh Pant produced a moment for the ages as he was seen shadow batting at the non-striker’s end even while James Anderson was bowling to the striker.

Even as India’s batting line-up collapsed like a pack of cards, an uber cool Rishabh Pant was seen shadow batting casually even as Anderson strolled in to bowl.

Former Australia quick Damien Fleming shared the video of the incident on Instagram, captioning it as another great moment from Pant on the field

“Don’t think I’ve seen a non striker shadow bat so late in a bowlers run up. 😂😂 That’s R. Pant always entertaining 👌”

Rishabh Pant, like several others, had an off Test, making one and two in the two innings. The wicketkeeper batsman last made a fifty-plus score in March 2021, making a hundred against England at Ahmedabad.

Since then, Pant has made scores of 4, 41, 25, 37, 22, 2 and 1.

He hasn’t quite struck form on this England tour yet, averaging 18.85 since the start of the World Test Championship final against New Zealand.
