Hilarious scenes unfolded during the Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings clash on Saturday even as the game went on for a close finish. The run-chase was getting towards the fag end when Sam Curran lost grip of the ball on a dewy night and sent it straight up into the sky.

Glenn Phillips of Rajasthan, in full spirits, looked to run after it to try and hit it but eventually gave up as it ended in the hands of MS Dhoni. The hilarious incident left everyone in splits even as the umpire signalled a no-ball and a free hit.

Phillips, not one to waste any deliveries as seen from his enthusiastic run to try and hit the moonball, smashed the free hit for four to further bring the equation down for Rajasthan Royals.

Earlier in the day, Chennai Super Kings had set a challenging total after batting first thanks to a maiden hundred from Ruturaj Gaikwad, but a sensational opening stand from Evin Lewis and Yashasvi Jaiswal put RR back on course. The powerplay was Rajasthan’s highest ever in IPL history and it paved the way for a huge win, although it needed a terrific half-century from Shivam Dube for Rajasthan to get over the line with more than two overs to spare.
