Having reached UAE early, Delhi Capitals skipper Shreyas Iyer has begun sweating it out in the nets for the remaining matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021.
Iyer, who is coming back after a prolonged absence from the game due to injury, boarded the flight to the Middle East last week and has now started preparing.
The India and DC right-hand batsman was in his element in one of the first practise sessions at the ICC Academy ground in Dubai as he blazed his willow for a magnificent straight six.

Iyer opted to travel a week earlier to the Middle East alongside some of the DC support staff personnel to get extra preparations under his belt before the rest of IPL 2021. The cricketer has spent the last four months under rehabilitation from a shoulder injury that he picked up while playing the ODI series against England in late March.
The 26-year-old missed the Indian leg of the IPL 2021, where wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant captained DC on interim basis, and was also ruled out of India’s limited-overs tour of Sri Lanka in July. In-between, Iyer had to cancel his List A stint with English county club Lancashire as well.
But now having received a nod of approval to return to action from the NCA medical staff, Iyer will be eyeing a strong comeback to the game with the UAE leg of IPL 2021, which is followed by the T20 World Cup.
Delhi are sitting at the top of the IPL 2021 points table with six wins from eight matches. The last year’s runners-up will resume their campaign on September 22 against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Dubai.
