WATCH: Mohammed Siraj’s aggressive throw smacks Bavuma on the heel

Mohammed Siraj is usually known to channel his aggression into his bowling, and we often see him steaming in with unreal intensity and translating it into his pace. He has been doing the same during the Boxing Day Test against South Africa and bowled imperiously well. But on the final day of the game, he let that aggression slide away from control a little.

Siraj had just picked up the wicket of Quinton de Kock and was pumped up. During the first ball of his over to Temba Bavuma next up, Bavuma knocked it straight to the bowler and wasn’t looking for a run. But the bowler picked up the ball and threw it immediately back to him.

His throw hit Bavuma’s heel and made the batter uncomfortable. The physio walked up to check on the batter, who was struggling to stay on his feet for a good few minutes and in the commentary box, Mike Haysman was totally unimpressed with the Indian fast bowler doing what he did. Siraj apologized to the batter and both of them seemingly had moved on with it. Bavuma got better and continued batting.

Here’s that incident where Mohammed Siraj unnecessarily had a go at Bavuma

South Africa are now desperate for the rain gods to save their day, as Indian fast bowlers got some early breakthroughs and picked up 3 wickets in the first session. Skipper Dean Elgar was looking well-set for a few minutes but started looking uncomfortable with the wayward bounce. He was lucky to be dropped by Mohammed Shami, who put down a straightforward chance off his own bowling.

But Jasprit Bumrah, who made a difference in the final 30 minutes of Day 4, once again registered the big breakthrough of the day. He trapped Elgar in front of the stumps and despite going upstairs, the ball was crashing into the stumps according to hawkeye. Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami dismissed Quinton de Kock and Mulder soon after, taking India further close to a first-ever win in Centurion.
