WATCH: Two Monster Sixes from Glenn Maxwell’s record-breaking BBL Century

After an indifferent tournament, Glenn Maxwell finally produced his best for Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League (BBL) 2021-22. The explosive Australian batter scored one of the fastest centuries ever made in T20 history, blasting jaw-dropping 154 not out off just 64 balls.

Maxwell came up with his stand-out performance of the season when Stars desperately needed it. With a playoffs spot on the line, the aggressive right-hander took the Hobart Hurricanes attack to the cleaners.

Before his innings, the 33-year-old Stars captain had made only 314 runs from his previous 12 innings of the BBL 2021-22. But in one spectacular piece of batting, he took his tournament tally to 468 runs at an average of 42.54 and 159.72.

Glenn Maxwell was at his very, very best for Stars against the Hurricanes.

Best of Glenn Maxwell’s maximums

During his memorable knock, Glenn Maxwell hit as many as 22 fours and 4 sixes. The batter went on a boundary hunt and hit the ball to all parts of the iconic MCG.

Of his four maximums, two really stood out. For the first one, Maxwell went over the long-on region and the second he screamed past the deep mid-wicket boundary.

Both the sixes came against Hurricanes’ part-time wristspinner D’Arcy Short. The first one, hit with great flair, came during the second over of the innings.

The next came against the same bowler but during the 10th over of the innings, by when Maxwell had already passed the score of 70 in his exhilarating effort with the bat.

Glenn Maxwell’s assault on Hurricanes will go down in T20 cricket as among the most brutal. The batter went at an astonishing strike-rate of 240.62 to take Stars to an insurmountable score of 273/2, where the next highest score was Marcus Stoinis’ 75 off 31 balls.
