Virat Kohli reached a major landmark on Wednesday as he completed his 100th catch in Test cricket on day two of the third Test match against South Africa in Cape Town.

Kohli claimed the catch of Temba Bavuma off Mohammed Shami’s bowling in the 55th over of the South African innings to reach the milestone.

It was a sensational catch as he dived to his left to take a low catch. That catch brought an end to a 47-run stand for the fifth wicket between Bavuma and Keegan Petersen, and thus gave India a much-needed breakthrough.

The Indian skipper was all set to complete his 100th Test match in Cape Town. But an upper back spasm ruled him out of the second Test match in Johannesburg and this match turned out to be his 99th match instead.

Kohli also played an excellent knock of 79 in the first innings to bail India out of trouble and help then to a respectable score of 223.
