WATCH: Yash Dhull or Virat Kohli? India U19 skipper’s 2019 video trends for similarity with Kohli

India’s under-19 captain Yash Dhull hails from Delhi like Virat Kohli and has already made heads turn with his remarkable performances in age group cricket.

With him to aiming to replicate Kohli’s feat as under-19 captain in 2008 – a title win for the Colts side – a video of Yash Dhull playing a square drive off a left-arm spinner is doing the rounds on social media.

The video from the 2019 Vinoo Mankad Trophy game against Gujarat where he made a hundred shows Yash Dhull playing the square drive in eerily similar fashion to how Virat Kohli plays it against spinners.

Shared on Twitter by the official handle of the Delhi Cricket Association, the video started gaining attention right from the time Dhull was named as India’s captain of the under-19 team for the U19 World Cup in West Indies.

Yash Dhull started the campaign in West Indies with a half-century against West Indies in Guyana in the first warm-up game.

He went on to make his presence felt in India’s opening game of the U19 World Cup against South Africa on Saturday, resurrecting the innings from 11/2 after the South African quicks made early inroads.

Interestingly, as Yash Dhull took India to safety against the Proteas in the Providence stadium in Guyana, Virat Kohli took to Twitter to announce his decision to step away from Test captaincy, shortly after the Test series loss to South Africa.

The stars are aligned perfectly for Yash Dhull to go on to emulate Virat Kohli and he, rather poetically, took baby steps to it in West Indies on Saturday.
